Lymphoma Association Launches New Short Film
The Lymphoma Association is delighted to launch their latest short film which shows the services they offer to anyone affected by lymphoma - the UK's sixth most common cancer. The charity were selected to have the film made for them for a nominal fee by the Media Trust, an organisation which helps charities raise awareness by providing them with volunteers from the TV, film and video industry who then produce videos for them.

ZIOPHARM Oncology, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZIOP) announced today that it presented positive data from a Phase I study of palifosfamide (ZymafosTM) in combination with doxorubicin at the 14th Annual Connective Tissue Oncology Society (CTOS) meeting held in London, UK, November 13 to 15. A new analysis of randomized controlled trials of the widely used new generation cancer drug bevacizumab (marketed by Roche and Genentech as Avastin) found it was linked to an increased risk of deep vein blood clots or venous thromboembolism in the legs or lungs compared with treatments that did not use it.

Two New Compounds Show Promise For Destroying Breast Cancer Tumors - University Of Central Florida
Two new compounds created by a University of Central Florida professor show early promise for destroying breast cancer tumors. Associate Professor James Turkson's compounds disrupt the formation and spread of breast cancer tumors in tests on mice. The compounds, S3I-201 and S3I-M2001, break up a cancer-causing protein called STAT3, and researchers have observed no negative side effects so far. "The compounds are very promising," Turkson said.

Positive Preclinical Data On Novel, Proprietary Molecule, RDC-1036, Designed To Improve Outcomes For Patients Taking Opioid Analgesics
Alkermes, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALKS) today announced positive preclinical results for its proprietary small molecule candidate, RDC-1036, which emerged from a library of novel opioid modulators. The data demonstrated RDC-1036 was effective in reversing opioid effects on gastrointestinal motility. Data also showed that oral administration of RDC-1036 had greater efficacy at a lower dose and for an extended period of time compared to an active comparator, methylnaltrexone.
