The Rehabilitation Engineering Society of JAPAN (RESJA) was established in March 1986. RESJA is an organization concerned with application of science and technology in the rehabilitation process. The membership includes rehabilitation professionals (engineers, medical staffs, teachers for handicapped children, etc.), providers (makers and dealers), and consumers. RESJA promotes mutual understanding among these groups so that they comprehend and serve the actual needs of the people with disabilities who will benefit from the application of rehabilitation engineering. RESJA has a membership of almost 1000 and is growing.
